C.Debussy Pelléas et Mélisande

Pelléas et Mélisande is Claude Debussy`s only completed opera, written between 1893 and 1902, based on Maurice Maeterlinck`s Symbolist play of the same name. It premiered on April 30, 1902, in Paris. It is a masterpiece of musical impressionism, setting the playwright`s text almost unchanged to sophisticated music.<br> <br>

Prince Golaud finds the mysterious girl Melisande in the forest, marries her, and brings her to the castle. Melisande falls in love with Golaud`s younger brother, Pelléas arousing the jealousy of Golaud.
